I was planning a different post for today. I was waiting for Jonathon to get home from school so that he could be my cameraman and take some shots of me on the trampoline. I also still need to cut the mullet. I know I said I would do it over the weekend, but I have found it a little harder than I thought I would. I watch it move while Emma Mae is crawling around and it sort of makes me a little sad to know it won't be there hanging over the top of her little shirt anymore. Whatever, I can do it. I know it needs to be done. Look for those two interesting posts coming up in the next few days.
Today is special. I have been tagged. It is time to come up with 5 interesting facts about myself. I am trying to make them very random so that there is no chance anyone will know about them. Well, that sounds impossible. Maybe just most of you will not. Here goes...
5. When I was about 15 my Grandma on my dad's side told me a sweet little story about where my name came from. She said that my parents knew how much she loved music so they named me Amanda Lynn after a musical instrument. The mandolin. I thought this was a sweet story until my mom told me it was completely untrue. My name Amanda came from a Soap Opera, Another World. Rachel Cory was having a child and she named her Amanda. I guess my mom just liked the name. As I have mentioned in a previous post, 'What's in a name', I share my middle name with my mom and now my daughter, Madigan.
4. When I was a child I only ever had one thing that I wanted to be. I never wanted to be an astronaut or a doctor or a lawyer. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I would be a Solid Gold Dancer. I can't help it, the music moves me. It still does, even to this day. I love to dance in the car. I love the faces of the people in the other cars. Unfortunately, I'm really not very good. I've never had any professional lessons or anything and now that I have kids they seem to get somewhat embarrassed, Jonathon begs me to stop.
3. When my parents got divorced my dad left his old 45's at the house. My sister and I went through them to find one to listen to. There was an Eagle's one that sort of looked a little scary to us, it had this weird porpoise looking thing on it. We passed that one up and ended up with a Looking Glass 45. We listened to it constantly. It has only been recently that I can listen to that song and not tear up. I still have to listen to the whole thing if it comes on the radio. It came on the other day and I told my husband the story. He said, " That's kind of sad..." (He's deep.) Divorce is hard.
2.Unfortunately, I am a very judgemental person. Maybe that's why I got so upset about that blog yesterday. They say you don't like the things in other people that you don't like in yourself. My sister in law, Echo, said that I was the lead car on the judgement train. I'm working on it...
1. When I said that I had no professional dance training, that was totally a lie. I didn't know that it was. I forgot that I was a clogger. A friend convinced me to take up clogging. I did it for about a month and gave up. It is really hard and if you can clog you have real talent.
This was really fun. Thank you Reluctant Housewife for asking me to do that. You really made my day. Everybody else look forward to the mullet cut and the "Things I should never do again, now that I'm getting old..." posts coming soon.

Thanks for sharing those things about yourself. I like to sing and dance in the car but Shelby and Reagan haven't got to the "stop you are embarrassing" stage yet. Shelby just wants me to sing louder!
Brenna was sitting with me when I got on your blog, she said that is grrrosssssssssss, and that I would have a time out if I didn't turn it of. I danced in high school, but I don't think I would have been brave enough to do Solid Gold! I just got back from seeing heather at the hospital her spirit is good. Mike is going to try and get her a laptop so she can get online.
I didn't know she was at the hospital? Are they keeping an eye on her fluids or what?
Yay! Amanda, thanks for doing the meme. I enjoyed the post. All that truly are all that. When I was a kid I wanted to be a stand-up comic. I'll bet your car dancing is da bomb.
Fab post. I'm working on mine... but gotta get some work done first.
It's making me chuckle to think that you turned your back on your clogging career.
Listen, I love to learn more and more about you.
Shut the front door!... you are too funny... SOLID GOLD? Who's ever heard of that? And I really didn't think that people could dance like that on primetime tv? How about those cloggers... pretty good! I totally think that you should perform at the next ward talent show! What do you think?!
