As we all know, I have spent all of my money going out to eat. This means less money in the grocery department of the budget. I had $79 left to spend on my groceries. If you take a look at my total I only spent $71.20. So I did great, right? Not necessarily. What does a woman who has practically no money to get her weekly groceries end up with at the store? Lets take a look, shall we?
Item #2 on the receipt VAN DRMSTICK. Any guesses what that is? Yep. You guessed it. It's Nestle Drumsticks. We absolutely cannot do without these. When I say we, I mean Josh and I. The kids are not allowed to touch them. They can have a lick or two off of ours, but they certainly do not get one of their own.
Item #'s 5 and 7 are bottles of water. Yes, I know. I should be using refillable water bottles. I'm working on it.
Item # 9 is pancake mix. #10 is the syrup to go with the pancakes. Every Sunday morning Josh gets up and makes us all blueberry pancakes, making Sunday my favorite day of the week.
Item #15 is a box of 250 Easter eggs. We have a big family.
And last but certainly not least are the m&m's and the Dr. Pepper for the road. Emma Mae sure loved sharing the m&m's with me.
So, pretty much I ended up with a whole lotta nothing. Just a few essentials. Which means that for my family until next week we will have to do the unthinkable. Dare I even say it. We will be eating...the food that is already in the cabinets. Don't worry about us. Not a one of us is going to go hungry, I promise.

I have been there. We do the same with ice cream but ours is the snickers. So be thankful your husband makes pancakes. I'm not sure mine even knows how....lol He makes waffles sometimes and I know your thinking frozen ones but no he does make them from a mix.
Wow! You are very brave to post your Wal-Mart receipt. I always hide mine hoping no one sees how much I spend at that store. I should really own stock.
This is practice for when we really have to eat our food storage. See a very good idea you've once again shared with all of us.
THAT IS HILARIOUS. THE BEAUTIFUL THING ABOUT IT IS YOU ARE CONSISTENT. I ALWAYS KNEW WHERE TO GET TREATS IF I NEEDED THEM. SO I SALUTE YOU.
It's like being a student - making a meal out of condiments and a handful of dried pasta.
I hope you'll do better than me.
I had a similar experience in Tesco yesterday. Obviously new toothbrushes and Pringles are necesseties! When money's tight in our house we have a 'freezer week' - trying to make meals out of what's left in the freezer. You get some funny combinations!
I love that you also bought Lunchables. It was lunchables right?
It really doesn't take a long time to buy a whole lot of nothing.
Thank you, Echo, for noticing the Lunchables. Yes, I bought them for the kids to take to school and then I remembered that next week is Spring Break. That was an extra $10.32 that I could have spent on other junk. Darn.
You are cracking me up with your hilarity over here. And I love your blogpaper background! I'm glad you told me about your blog - this is fun and exciting!
