One of the highlights of my day is checking the mail. As I have gotten older, I have realized that it shouldn't be a highlight, anymore. It should be dreaded. In a time where it feels like everyone and everything is just trying to suck my money away from me, my mailbox has turned to the other side. It no longer offers me the fun surprise of correspondence with friends and family. Nope, now it seems like it's only job is to deliver even more requests for my money right into my hands. (Ok, yes those bills are for things I want and need, like power and waste removal, but you get my point, right?) But not on Friday. Friday was a special day. When I opened my mailbox door, this was waiting inside for me.
Wow. What could it be? Who is it from? Wait a minute. You know, now a days you have to be very careful about your mail. So I checked the return address to see if it was from Kaczynski. All clear there. I smelled it to see if there was any hint of anthrax. I am almost 85% sure I didn't smell that. Don't you think it is safe for me to open it?
I had been semi-expecting my package from scrappysue. She had mentioned feeling a little sorry for me with all my bad luck with the drawing and all. So, she said she would send me a little consolation to make me feel better. You see that bag down there? Looks like that came from her trip to Hong Kong.
Look at that pretty wrapping. And that cute little girl card. Wonder what it says?
She has some really fabulous handwriting, doesn't she?
Look at how yummy that chocolate looks. Oh, looks like it got a little warm on it's trip, though. That's ok. I can fix that. No comments about my organizational skills, please. I put those babies right where they belong. All of my healthy snacks go on the second shelf. See the yogurt, there? Can't you tell how healthy we are?
Sorry. I didn't take any shots of me enjoying them. That, I'll just leave to the imagination. Thank you, scrappysue. You have given me hope that my mailbox can be more than a moneysucker.

Yeah I hate the mailbox I never get treats just bills. Thats part of getting older I guess.
Treats in the mail! That is a wonderful surprise. We need more of those kinds of things showing up in our mail boxes. I've always loved getting the mail out of the box, junk mail or bills, I like to get it myself.
And this was a really cute post!
Wow! That is some kind of healtful eating you got going on there ... Now kicked into overdrive with the arrival of your international delivery!! You need to send her some good ole southern healthfood like some boiled peanuts and pecan logs!
What a lovely surprise. I love getting parcels, but sadly, only ever get bills. Although they are all still addressed to the Father of This Lot, so I just pass them on.....
Oh.....I love surprises in the mail!!! What a fun day for you!! But i know the feeling....I only EXPECT bills in the mail anymore.....It does really suck huh??
