Yesterday was the perfect day to play outside at the Shrimp and Grits Festival. It was about 75 degrees and breezy all day. Jonathon was selling popcorn at the Cub Scout tent so Josh and I took the other kids around the Festival. We met my mom, sister and her two kids. Here's a shot of my mom, Melissa and her son Cooper (next to Jackson) and Bailey (in the stroller behind Madi). We were going to go in and check out the Sea Turtles but it was kind of pricey, so we didn't. Maybe next time.
We did find a bounce house that was free and lots of fun!!
And then we found some tables that had this great tree next to it. The kids played there for an hour.
Then the Queens Army came strolling by. (The restrooms were right next to our table) These reenactors were way SERIOUS about their jobs. I chased after them to get a picture with them. I was yelling for them to stop. But it was not that easy. The Commander (guy on the left) had to yell out an order for the Company (guy on the right) to stop. And then they had to "about face' before they were finally facing us. They were very nice and didn't break character at all.

The weather was the most perfect part of the day, don't you agree? It's been a long time since we did anything fun. Just getting out of this house has it's healing effects! There is Mule Days in Alma in a few weeks, oh that's right, No Mule Days for you, you'll be in NEW YORK!!!
Fun!
It almost looks like the children are growing on that tree, doesn't it?
Sorry, we missed that. It would have been fun, espescially the shrimp & grits!
I love the South...
I just read your previous post and I must say, you are brave gal to throw it out there - I like it. I love politics... I catch as much as I can, but I certainly could know more. Nevertheless, I am a huge fan of Obama - I really like him... I read his first book 3 years ago and I think he's a great guy. My problem is that I'm all for the Republican platform. I'm not a big government person. I've seen how it enables people when I was a social worker in inner city Philly. I agree with working mum, I've worked my butt off and I shouldn't have to pay for other's over spending and living beyond their means. Obama said something about us getting help for our neighbors who can't afford their car payment in his DNC speech, I about fell off my chair and said, what the freak!!! - why is that my problem or your problem Obama. Let's educate our society and hold people accountable, we're a smart, capable people!!! okay, enough ranting.
I love how you put it out there... by the way, Palin is pretty and I say all the power to her for that... she probably works hard at it and I'm all for that! I'm with you though on her experience - she scares the crap out of me.
okay, seriously I'm done.
I miss all the festivals!!! I want to come home!!!
The shrimp and grits thing sounds great! I've had fish and grits. It don't get much better than that! Maybe I can come up for it next year. Be a great excuse to come see ya'll!
Love Ya!
