This is what a year looks like

So one year ago today, Emma Mae was born. I look back on that time and cannot believe that it has gone by so fast. I remember bringing her home and feeling so overwhelmed. Jackson started potty training right after we got home from the hospital which was sort of a double edged sword. It was great that he was on his way and I would only have to buy diapers for two kids but it was hard cleaning up pee, poo and nursing a newborn baby. I thought I would never make it through those rough days. But being in this place right this minute where I realize that I did make it through and I am only buying diapers for one kid, I also see that these days will all be over before I know it. I love that my kids are still at ages where everything is still magical and most of the time they are still so loving. Last night as we were putting the jammies on the kids I asked Jonathon, Jackson and Madi to
try to remember to wish Emma Mae a happy birthday this morning. Jonathon asked if turning one year meant that she would be able to walk. I said I didn't think so. So, of course this morning I totally forgot about that. I asked Jonathon if he would go get Emma Mae out of bed. He ran right back there to get her for me. Then I hear him saying, "Happy birthday Emma Mae, can you walk?" Then he runs into the living room and tells me, "She can't walk, yet...I'm going to go see if she can talk." Oh, the innocence of youth. It is moments like those that make it all worth while. Happy Birthday, Emma Mae!!
