Where Have I Been, You Ask?

It's been so long since I stopped posting, I can't even give a good reason for stopping. It seems like I was having computer drama. I can't remember, maybe I got busy at the farm. I can't even remember if we had chickens when I last blogged. Oh, this will never work. I'll just have to recap the last year and then we can start fresh again.

In the last year we have;
-Had a mama cow die after giving birth to a baby cow. We then had to feed it milk in a bottle, only you have to do it just like the directions say, which we didn't and so after a few months we had to put said baby cow out of it's misery. Awful.
-Ordered baby chickens during the winter when it is too cold and the casualty rate is much higher than my feelings could bear. Maybe one day I'll be able to share the story about the flood in the chicken coop, but now, 8 months later I'm still too raw to talk about it.
-Taken my oldest son Jo Nathon (that's his new nickname) to sleepover camp 5 hours away at the University of Georgia. He wouldn't even let me give him sugars before I left. He went for swim. It was so good for him that he qualified for State Age Group at a meet two weeks later.
-Cut the mullet into a nice little bob with bangs. (need I say more?)
-Moved out of our house while our new house at my husband's grandparents farm was being renovated. Everyday Emma Mae would ask me if we could just go home. It was torturous.
-Lived with the inlaws.
-Moved into the new house.
-Bought a milk cow that was starving to death from the Agrirama in Tifton, Georgia. Literally. The State cut their budget and they couldn't afford to feed the cows. She actually almost died because we left her in a field by herself with a bail of peanut hay. She almost ate herself to death because she had been starving so long. She's doing very well, now so don't you worry another second about Puney.

Oh, there's so much more but maybe it'll come to me later. I haven't taken a picture in forever. I went out and took one specifically for this post.

That's the barn where all of the chickens are housed. We have about 100 of them that survived the afore mentioned flood. (excuse me while I dry my eyes) We get 3 dozen eggs every day. If you live close, I'll sell you a dozen for $2. That's a good deal. Come by and see me.

This is the view from my backyard. Those black dots are some of our 30 or so cows. Puney is out there somewhere. Maybe one day I'll actually get some milk out of her.
That's where I've been and where I am. As for blogging, I'm BACK.

Pretty busy, then? I love that picture with the white fence, so how I think of American farms!

Hello! How great to hear from you again. Sorry about the flood. Sounds biblical and traumatic. I'm looking forward to hearing more (about fun stuff - I'm not reading for disasters!) x
