Manners

Josh and I are trying very hard to teach our kids manners. We remind them constantly to say 'thank you, ma'am and sir' as much as possible. It has only been since I have been trying to teach these things to the kids that I have noticed that many grown ups have absolutely no manners, whatsoever. I have found myself wanting to correct adults when they bark out orders instead of politely asking for something. Can you imagine me asking the drive thru attendant to say 'Please, give me $2.02 for your large Dr. Pepper. Thank you.'? I don't think that would go over well. Anyway, with the kids we are really trying.

Emma Mae's first words were dada and stop. How funny that one of her first words was stop. I guess I must shout that a lot. But now, word number 3 is tank eww. (Thank you). You don't believe me? Here's proof.

You can accuse my kids of a lot of things, playing in the toilet, peeing on a tree outside, pulling off all their clothes for no good reason, but don't EVER accuse them of not being polite.

Hey, I slipped back home after I helped Harry bathe. I've got workers here and I needed to check on them but it also allowed me to post and update on Harry and check out my other favorite blogs.

If that isn't the cutest thing ever! Emma Mae says it so clear! I love it!!!

Was that the phone ringing in the back ground??

My neighbor once got irritated with me because I would make my children say hello and thank you to her. She said that I shouldn't force my children to talk to her - I agreed with her except that I told her that if someone says hello, my children don't ignore them (unless it's a stranger or creepy person -ya know. but the nice old neighbor across the street- yes!) and thank you is not an option to not say. I told her, " my children will have manners thank you very much!". I love the South for the "maam and sir", we don't get that much here in Colorado.

Can Emma Mae teach Kate any words! Kidding - she's a non stop talker, but we don't know the words she is saying!

By the way, I'm glad you have posted finally... I've missed you. You were my one constant blog that I could read everyday and know there is something new... however, I know blogging is tough, I get 4 or 5 posts a month - so, no pressure, just know that I'm glad you're back!

Come visit the NW of England. Lots of 'please' and 'thank you' here. And 'hello' and 'how are you?' and 'nice day for it'. We're a pretty polite and friendly lot up North!

I'm to the point that if someone doesn't flip me off they're being polite...

She's fabulous. Great hearing you getting excited too.

Nothing better than saying 'thank you' to bus drivers in London. Politeness totally freaks them out. I've been told Whitstable is surprisingly friendly for the south (of England). I'm working on please and thank yous with Peaches too, right now. Setting an example is definitely the best way. She's joining in with the amens in church now. Very cute.
